Notarizing Documents in Hospitals
While making hospital Notary appointment It is very important that you carefully absorb your client when you arrive to make sure he/she are in their right state of mind to sign documents. In these times mental capacity is a frail thing in elderly patients and we to be aware of this and acknowledge it and not take advantage the elderly situation for the greed of money, this is not our code of conduct and you should not be in business with this mindset. We must be sensitive to all our clients in the hospital with extra care to our elderly. Pay close attention to the client to make sure that they are not being cohorst into signing something they do not agree on or not quite sure what they are signing, even if they have doubts no actions should be taken.
The first thing you want to do is introduce yourself and let the client know who you are a (Mobile Notary), let them know you are there to notarize paperwork for them, you then want to check for proper identification of all parties involved once this is established then you may proceed with your services. While this process is taking place, you are witnessing all signatures being notarized at this time awaiting your stamp of approval to complete this job. You have to be patience when going to on jobs like these. Sometimes it can take minutes or hours, it all plays in the hands of the client and how they want to handle it. Remember, your assignment is in a hospital where you need to ensure that a doctor has not placed a temporary or permanent restriction on the patient’s ability to sign documents. It is not necessary for medical staff to know anything about the documents. All I need is the full name, title, and phone number of a doctor, nurse, social worker, or administrator who can vouch for the patient’s legal capacity. Have a blessed day.
